... update to previous blog...

If you haven't read my previous blog, then this one probably won't make sense. Today, Mitch went outside to spray more bug spray and yelled for me to come outside to look at something. He noticed that there were some plant/weeds that were COVERED with the bugs that have been getting into our bedroom. Now you can see what I was talking about!!

Sick right?!

Sleeping In Our Living Room

This is what our living room currently looks like...... our bed taking up the whole floor and our couch is the new headboard haha. Let me take a minute to explain. The last 2 weeks, our house has been having some issues! We had to buy a new garbage disposal, the house was filled with a horrible smell (that we fixed by pouring water down a drain in our storage room), and then our bedroom and bathroom became infested with bugs!!! We're not sure why, but there are millions of bugs living in the weeds right outside the windows in our room and bathroom. (I also want to mention that we don't have weeds because we're too lazy to weed our yard... we live on a big undeveloped hill, so the whole hill is covered in weeds) They are tiny tanish-white bugs with wings. On Friday I started noticing them in our room, but didn't think much of it, until I started to feel them on me while I was falling asleep. On Saturday, they were ALL over our room! When I pulled back our bed covers, there were like 20 in our sheets!!!! Sick right? This house is a little old, and for some reason there are holes in our window sills that go to the outside.... which means that all sorts of bugs can come in. And it also doesn't help that we had an A/C in the window right above our bed... which Mitch sealed off the best he could, but I'm sure they could still get in there too. Needless to say, I freaked out! I made Mitch take the A/C out and then we duct taped all around the windows and over the holes. Then we sprayed bug spray ALL over the windows. And I should mention that there were hundreds of them flying around our room by this point. I stripped the bed down to wash the sheets and then literally started vacuuming them off the walls, windows, bed and floor. After a few hours we got most of them killed. Later that night, we went into our room to go to sleep and realized that our room was now about 10 degrees hotter than the rest of the house. I don't know about you, but I don't sleep well when I'm hot. I should also mention that our ceiling fan broke about a week ago too. So we did the obvious thing to do in this situation....... we drug the matress into our living room and decided to make that our bedroom for a while haha. It's taken some getting used to, but it's worked out pretty well. On Monday, Mitch's parents Kim and Becky came over to try to help us get rid of the bugs. They burnt a lot of the weeds on that side of the house and sprayed LOTS of bug spray on that whole side of the house. I should have taken pictures... the walls were COVERED with millions of them! Mitch said that when he went outside to look at them, they were so loud it sounded like running water! Hopefully on Saturday Mitch will be able to get our A/C back in and seal it off with some spray foam stuff, so that we can start sleeping in the bedroom again. Honestly, I think Mitch will miss sleeping in front of the big TV that has satellite ;) Anyways, there's my fun little story about why we're sleeping in our living room. I hope you're not all itchy now...... because everytime I talk/think about it, I get super itchy!

Memorial Day Weekend

Every year, we have a BBQ at my Grandma Gubler's during the Memorial Day weekend. It's always fun to get the Gubler family together and eat yummy food! I decided to take some pictures this year.
My cute cousin Noah playing in the ditch...

Notice how dirty his diaper is after sitting in the dirt :)

My niece Kylee... and her blue hair

My niece Brooklyn... she demands to wear a dress everyday

The little girls love to kiss Mitch just to see him squirm :)

So this is my cousin Noah talking to my brothers about the Big Bad Wolf... it's pretty funny. And sorry, I couldn't figure out how to turn it, so you'll have to turn your head!

Our Flowers

Mitch and I have tried to fix up our yard a little... so here's some pictures...

This is the before of what it looked like when you walked down the stairs to come to our door...

This is the after... better right? And there are currently morning glory growning up the lattice

This is another spot you pass coming down the stairs...

And the after...

In a previous post, I showed how we were growning flowers from seed in the house. This is one of those flowers after it's been transplanted.

Here are some flowers that grew back from last year. If you're wondering why there are cages around them, there is a post from about a year ago that explains :)

We had tons of flowers grow back under our kitchen window

Our little stove...

We planted flowers in one of Grandma's old washers. They have grown like crazy!

We also build these flower beds on the opposite side of our lawn than our other flowers. Notice how ugly the rest of the hill is?! I wish I could plant this whole hill full of grass!

The plant on the far right just so happens to be a pumpkin plant!! Somehow, some pumpkin seeds got into our flower beds in a few places, so we just might have a pumpkin patch this year!

Lately...

There hasn't been much going on with us lately. Just the same ole school and work. I have taken a few pictures of some of the animals we encounter here at our house, though....

Like usual, we've found lots of scorpions. Here is a big one we caught last week...

So gross, right?!

The next day, we came home from running some errands, and noticed that Andy's head had bumps all over it. We're still not sure what happened, but they disappeared after about an hour.

The other morning, I walked into our living room and saw this road runner looking in...

And there are quail ALL over our hill.... this is a picture of one on top of some farm equipment

Happy Mother's Day

We took Mitch's idea of picking wildflowers from our hill, and made boquets for our mothers and grandma's. Kinda cheap, but I thought they were cute enough :) Either way, we love all the mothers in our lives and we hope that they all had a happy Mother's Day.
