The Help

I finished reading this book a few days ago and really liked it! It's an easy read and really entertaining. It gives you an interesting insight on the relationship between white and black women during the 60's in the South. If you like reading, I think you should put this on your list :)

Pioneer Day

Here in Utah, the 24th of July is a holiday, referred to as "Pioneer Day". We celebrate the day that the first group of Mormon pioneers entered the Salt Lake Valley after crossing the country. This year, I went with my family to the Washington City parade, not only because it's fun to watch, but also because my grandma Gubler was the Grand Marshal :) After the parade, I went with my family up to Kolob, while Mitch went fishing with his brother in Pinto. It was a fun day! Here are some pictures from the 24th...

Waiting for the parade to start...

My sister and mom

I'm pretty sure this police car is from the year I was born haha

The mayor of "dog town" Kenny Neilson :)

My Grandparents :)
My grandma's face was priceless when she saw all of us on the side of the road!

"Pioneers"

Oh ya know, just some goats haha

Some of the pioneers pulled handcarts like this one...

There were some sweet clowns riding unicycles

The Princesses

This float was funny. It was all the recent "graduates" from the Washington Singles Ward haha

The mascot for the Road Runners Baseball team

After dropping my granparents off back at their house, Noah got to go for a ride in the wagon

While up at the cabin on Kolob, the weather decided not to cooperate. It rained for a bit, but then stopped. Half of us decided to go for a walk to the stream, while most of the boys went shooting. Well, about 15 minutes after leaving the cabin (when we were all in the woods) it started raining again... and pretty stinkin hard! So we all had to run back to the cabin. Those of us who went for the walk didn't get TOO wet, but the poor boys were soaked by the time they made it to the cabin. So, my grandma made them strip their muddy clothes and put on some shirts she had at the cabin. They were girl shirts. Needless to say, it was pretty funnny, so I forced them to take a picture. My favorite was seeing Blake in a shirt that said, "Camp Wonderland" with Minnie Mouse under it hahaha

Kenzee begged me to take a picture of her with her suckers. Blake decided to jump in front of the camera and make the picture blurry. Boys.

Snake!

One night, a few weeks ago, Mitch's parents' dog wouldn't stop barking. So my father-in-law, Kim, went outside to see what was going on. When he looked in the dog's pen, he saw a snake! I'm pretty sure he thought it might be a rattlesnake. So he went back inside and grabbed Becky and his shotgun. Becky held the dog back while Kim shot the snake! This picture was taken the day after. Turns out, it was just a blow snake.... better safe than sorry though! I'm gonna go ahead and keep pretending that there aren't snakes around our house though!

Sunset

We were hanging out in our backyard the other evening and I thought this sunset was too pretty not to snap a picture :)

Sunflowers

Like always, Mitch (and me a little bit) has been working on our backyard. We... well it started out as just me, but then I begged Mitch until he agreed....... decided to put up a white fence behind our biggest flower bed. I was sick of seeing all the dead weeds and dirt behind it, plus the flowers needed a little shade. I think it looks lots better, and our flowers are all doing great! Mitch also planted a few different kinds of sunflowers around the backyard and they have all started to bloom in the last two weeks. Some of them are HUGE!

This is what it looked like before...

And after.... we still have to keep fence around the whole thing to try to keep the rabbits, squirrels, and chipmunks out!

Andy layed in the wet grass and watched as we put the fence up :)

Some of the sunflowers

This sunflower has to be almost 7 feet tall! It's crazy to think that it came from a tiny little seed!

Little Surprises

Who wouldn't love waking up to little surprises like this? I have the best husband :)

Oak City & Pinto Weekend

Two weeks ago, Mitch's brother Ryan and his family came to Utah to visit from Kansas. We drove up to Oak City to meet up with them and then went to Pinto the next day. Here are some pictures from that weekend.... most of them are of Mitch, Micci, and me bowling in Delta :)

I loved these old buildings in Milford

On the way up to Oak City, we passed a million of these windmill things... and for some reason they're really creepy to me!

More windmills!

Micci and Mitch getting us ready to start the game...

Mitchypoo bowling...

Micci showing us how it's done...

Mitch representin!

Mitch's awesome stance before he bowls...

Micci giving Mitch some bowling tips...

Mitch's name was "Destroyer".... though it wasn't very fitting!

This is what it looks like when Micci WHOOPS Mitch in bowling!

We saw two rainbows on the drive to Pinto

And had to stop about 10 times for all the cows in the road!

And here are some videos from bowling.... I love when Mitch yells into the camera at the end of this video :)
